The Parliamentary Secretary for Forestry in B.C. says improvements are being made to improve internet connectivity in the Clearwater-Vavenby area.
Ravi Kahlon was speaking on NL Newsday, saying the Mayor and CAO in Clearwater have spoken to the Ministry of Citizen Services as well as representatives from Telus.
“Telus has informed Vavenby that there’s now capacity there to expand services,” Kahlon said. “We are in conversations now with Clearwater now to apply for a fund which will be able to expand their services as well.”
“This is what they were looking for and so it was great to have that conversation with them.”
Kahlon says each community affected by the downturn in forestry has unique issues, and so officials also discussed what other opportunities are available in Clearwater and Vavenby.
Clearwater Mayor Merlin Blackwell says there has been some improvements in internet connectivity, but notes service overall is still poor in the area.
