Kamloops RCMP handed out over six-dozen tickets to drivers who failed to buckle up or put down the phone when driving this week.
Police say 42 tickets were issued to drivers after a crackdown on Tuesday, September 3, at Summit Drive and Columbia Street.
A further 31 tickets were given to people who failed to buckle up, while seven other tickets were handed to various traffic infractions.
“Avoiding a violation ticket or, even worse, a collision is easily prevented,” said Cpl. Jodi Shelkie. “Simply drive distraction-free and wear your seatbelt at all times.”
Shelkie says with September being distracted driving and occupant restraint month, drivers can expect to see an increased police presence on city streets though the month.
