The median price of a house in Kamloops hit a record high of $510,000 in August and one city councilor thinks that trend is going to continue.
While on the NL Morning News, councilor Bill Sarai said he’s worried that what’s happening with house prices in the Lower Mainland could be starting here. “It’s almost like it’s a repeat of what happened in Vancouver years ago.”
“It’s happening there now is we’re pushing our residents further and further out because there’s people coming with more cash that aren’t from the area.”
When asked if he was worried about people considering moving here being priced out of the housing market, Sarai said “I’m more concerned for our local residents here, our kids that are growing up here.”
“I’m seeing them looking further and further out of Kamloops, like the core of it because they can’t afford even Brocklehurst now unless it’s a fixer upper.”
