A 69-year-old Alberta man was killed on Highway 1 this morning between Lytton and Boston Bar.
RCMP Traffic Services spokesperson Cpl. Mike Halskov says the incident happened around 10:15 this morning, near the Jackass Mountain Summit.
“A northbound motorcycle with a lone rider had just completed making a legal pass and pulled back into his lane, and may have come into contact with a pothole on the roadway,” he said. “This caused the motorcyclist to lose control and he left the road and was subsequently killed as a result.”
Halskov says the collision is not being treated as criminal in nature, and he adds it was an unfortunate set of circumstances that led to the incident.
As of 1:30 p.m., the highway was reduced to a single lane of alternating traffic, with delays expected in the area.
