The Superintendent for the Kamloops-Thompson School District says she is heartened by the outpouring of support for Parkcrest Elementary School, which burned down last Thursday.
Alison Sidow says she wasn’t aware of a GoFundMe campaign that’s trying to raise money for teachers at Parkcrest Elementary, but noted she’s is not surprised by it.
“That’s Kamloops. That’s our city,” she said. “We pull together.”
Sidow says if people are looking to raise money though, to ensure that it’s earmarked to support staff and students that have been impacted by the fire.
“We will of course support the distribution of those funds and ensure that they are handled appropriately, and that the intended recipients receive it.”
As of 1:30 p.m. on Sept. 9, the campaign had raised $22,190 of it’s $50,000 goal.
