Officials in the Village of Chase are ecstatic with the return of bus service after a new Ebus route was approved last month.
CAO Joni Heinrich says it is good news for the village and the surrounding areas – including the three local First Nations bands – because the bus is expected to stop every day in the village, starting October 7.
She says it will make it easier for people to get into Kamloops for a variety of errands.
“It really engages or reconnects us in that link through the Okanagan to Vancouver, which for a number of people in our community and the surrounding communities will be really beneficial,” she told NL.
Heinrich says some village councillors have plans to mark the first Ebus trip from Chase with a short bus ride next month.
“Council is looking at participating somehow either by buying a ticket and jumping on the bus,” Heinrich added. “Yeah, so we have some council members that are keen because we are so excited that this is happening so they are keen to do something, some kind of photo-op and maybe a short trip on the bus.”
The new route is also adding stops in Sorrento, Salmon Arm, Enderby, and Armstrong, before heading towards Kelowna.
