Is Kamloops affordable?
The president of the Kamloops and District Real Estate Association says some people may be split on that topic.
Wendy Runge says the prices on homes are changing and can be hard for realtors to keep up with.
“If you’re talking to local Kamloopsians, a lot of us who’ve been here a long time are still shaking our heads at the prices. But if you’re looking at people who are coming from the Lower Mainland or even parts of the Okanagan or Alberta, we do seem fairly affordable.”
Last month, the average single-family home in Kamloops sold for more than $481,000, while the average property of any type sold for more than $421,000.
Runge was asked what realtors are expecting this fall.
“We’re still going to see that activity continue, I think, through September and October, and again depending on the weather that will dictate how long that goes. So I hope we see some new listings coming out this fall, people will at least give the fall market a try. And hopefully that will increase some activity.”
Many realtors in the Kamloops area have long been saying that a lack of supply in the local housing market is contributing to home prices creeping up month after month.
