The area director in Sorrento says he would like to see a decision made about how to upgrade the Trans-Canada Highway through the community.
Paul Demenok says improving that area of the highway has been discussed for several years but nothing has been set in stone.
“So the highway narrows to two lanes going through Sorrento, it’s a chokepoint for Highway 1. There was discussion at one point about bypassing the town and going around the town. There was a discussion about widening the highway right through town, but no decision’s been made.”
The speed limit also drops to 60 kilometres through Sorrento, and Demenok says speeding has also led to complaints from people in town.
