The mayor of Barriere says his council has at least two meetings planned at the Union of B.C. Municipalities convention this week.
Ward Stamer says both meetings will have something to do with growth in the community.
“One is with BC Hydro and just looking at what they have for power availability throughout the North Thompson valley, so that if it’s going to impact new businesses, what exactly is available going forward in their distribution system?”
He says another meeting is with the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing.
“A couple things we’re talking about, one is a low-income housing initiative that we’re working on right now and the second thing is a boundary extension we’re looking for, just on the outskirts of the District of Barriere boundaries with a development proposal for a new subdivision.”
Stamer says the proposed boundary extension would add 160 acres to the district on Armour Mountain.
The UBCM convention is taking place in Vancouver from today until Friday.
