As the election campaign enters week two, a local candidate would like to see everybody on the same page when it comes to climate change.
The Green Party’s Iain Currie was on NL Newsday and said while the solution is simple, it’s not that easy.
“I think that what we need to do is take the politics out of climate action, that’s obviously really difficult to do but the science is clear.”
He added politicians need to step aside and let the scientists do their work.
“The political discourse has evolved so that each of the parties is saying oh ya, we recognize there is a crisis,” Currie said. “We recognize we need to do something and so let’s step back as politicians and let the science take over and let the science control what we do.”
Currie went on to say while the solution is simple, pulling it off is another story.
“The science tells us what we need to do,” he said. “The people in Kamloops-Thompson-Cariboo see the impacts with the wildfires, they can see and do see the news, what’s happening around the world, record heat waves and floods etc etc.”
