The mayor of Ashcroft says no temporary closures of the emergency room at the local hospital are expected anytime soon.
After repeated closures in the spring, there were none in the summer, and Barbara Roden was asked what the projection is for this fall.
“As far as we know, they have stabilized the emergency department on the schedule that we have. Which is it’s open Fridays at 6 p.m. until Mondays at 8 in the morning. But a lot of the closures were caused by the fact that the people had been booked into shifts and something came up in their personal lives, they got sick or there was an emergency situation and they couldn’t make it, which is totally understandable.”
Roden says based on the closures in the past year, there isn’t complete faith locally that the emergency room will be open on weekend if someone has an emergency.
