The mayor of Ashcroft says the opening of a treatment centre for first responders just outside of town will mean a lot to the village.
Barbara Roden says the Honour Ranch, located 12 kilometres outside of Ashcroft, will be something the community will be very involved with.
“And I think a lot of people in the community are responding to it as well because of what we went through in 2017, not just the wildfires but we had the floods, the loss of the Cache Creek fire chief. We had a number of tragedies that year and it really brought our own first responders together,” Roden says.
“And it made the community realize not only what the first responders go through but how much we owe them. And I think this is a wonderful way of showing first responders the respect and honour we have for them. I think it’s also going to be a great way to get the community involved, because they will be looking for volunteers to go up to Honour Ranch.”
The Honor Ranch, a treatment centre for uniformed personnel, held a grand opening on the weekend.
