There were no injuries after a recent train derailment in Ashcroft.
Transportation Safety Board Spokesperson Chris Krepski says last Friday around 2:35 p.m., an east bound train was hit by a rock slide at Mile 52 in Ashcroft.
“[That] led to the derailment of six empty intermodal cars,” he says. “There were no injuries or dangerous goods released.”
Krepski says TSB investigators were not deployed to the scene, but they are gathering more information about the incident. The train he says was travelling at about 35 miles per hour.
In a statement, CN Spokesperson Alexandre Boulé says the train was carrying 14 intermodal containers at the time, six of which derailed upright following that rockslide.
“No cars or containers entered the river, and train movements resumed at approximately 5:15 p.m. local time on Saturday,” Boulé wrote.
