West Victoria Street is closed through the construction zone after a gas line was hit this afternoon.
Fortis BC spokesperson Diane Sorace confirms a line was hit by a third party and says crews are en route.”And its approximately going to take about three hours until repairs are complete,” Sorace told Radio NL. “There isn’t going to be any service outages as a result. However, the road will be closed in both direction in Victoria Street West.”
Sorace is urging people to call or click before they do any digging.
Adding to the traffic woes was a two vehicle collision on the north end of the Overlanders Bridge this afternoon around 4 p.m.
Kamloops Fire Platoon Captain Darryl Cooper says there were two SUV’s involved.
“Four wheels were attached on one vehicle, but the second vehicle is missing one wheel,” he said. “We’ve called a tow-truck and crews are working on getting that cleared up. BCAS just came across it, and it looks like it was a minor incident as far as injuries go.”
Cooper says it’s too soon to say what caused the collision, but crews expect to have it cleared up by 5 p.m.. Traffic is flowing across the bridge but it is moving slowly at this time.
This is the second day in a row an arterial route in and out of downtown Kamloops has been closed to traffic during the afternoon.
