The streak is over!
The Kamloops Blazers beat the Everett Silvertips 3-1 in Washington, to end an 11-game losing streak on Friday evening.
Goals from Inaki Baragno, Quinn Schmiemann, and Connor Zary helped the Blazers come from behind at the Angel of the Winds Arena to improve to 4-4 on the season – their first win in Everett since January 2017.
Brendan Lee opened the scoring to the Silvertips at 3:28 of the first period as Kamloops native Max Patterson picked up an assist to end the first period at 1-0.
Inaki Baragano scored his first as a Blazer at 2:30 in the second, while Quinn Schmiemann’s goal at 9:05 ended up being the game winner.
Zary’s goal into the empty net at 19:09 of the third period sealed the win for Kamloops, while extending his point streak to 13 games.
Dylan Garand was named first star on the night, he made 33 saves on the night to pick up his fourth win on the season. Dustin Wolf was equally stellar in the Everett net, making 36 saves, en route to being named second star.
It’s a quick turnaround for the Blazers as they travel to Kelowna for a Saturday night game against the Rockets – the second meeting this season between the two rivals. The Blazers have won seven straight against the Rockets – including the tie-breaker game last season.
