With a long-term care facility set to close in a Kamloops seniors home, staffing levels there will not change for at least half a year.
That’s according to Operations Director for Berwick on the Park Kelly Lazaro, who was commenting the closure of the 32-bed Brio Unit, which is set to happen in October of 2020.
“We want to try and have as least disruption to the residents as much as possible, and therefore we have committed to having no disruption to our current staffing model for at least six months,” she said.
Lazaro adds those staffing levels will stay the same regardless of what the occupancy is in the next six months.
“We’re also looking at what can we offer our staff to make sure that they are well looked after and what resources we can provide them,” she added. “It is our goal to make sure that we maintain the exact level of standards that the residents have come to expect during this entire transition.”
The Brio Unit currently has 28 residents but it will be closing next fall because of challenges with keeping casual staff.
