The president of the Kamloops and District Real Estate Association says home buyers might see what happens in the federal election before making decisions.
Wendy Runge says the federal government could loosen the mortgage stress test which she says is the biggest barrier today for home buyers.
“I think we always take a collective breath when there’s an election coming. People sometimes wait and see what changes will happen. There’s a lot of talk about affordable housing, there’s a lot of talk about housing in general. With these mortgage rules, will we see change?”
But election or not, Runge says fall is still a good time to buy or sell property in the Kamloops area.
