The Kamloops Blazers keep on rolling.
Orrin Centazzo scored two as the Blazers shutout the Swift Current Broncos 4-0 at Sandman Centre on Tuesday evening, for their third straight win, and sixth in the last seven games.
Rayce Ramsay picked up his first WHL career win and shutout, making 23 saves in the Blazers net.
“I kind of feel like we got an ‘A’ on the school project, but I was the one who did the least amount of work,” Ramsay said post-game. “The boys put in a full 60 minutes, and we got the result we wanted.”
Martin Lang opened the scoring at 17:20 in the first period, while both of Centazzo’s goals came in the second, at 9:24 and 14:26. Josh Pillar put one into the empty net at 19:41 in the third period for good measure.
Matthew Seminoff recorded his first WHL point in assisting Pillar’s goal, while Connor Zary extended his point streak to 15 games with a pair of assists on Centazzo’s goals.
Ryan Hughes also added two assists on the night, as Reece Klaasen was kept busy in the Broncos net, making 41 saves in a losing effort.
“You have to give Swift Current credit,” said Head Coach Shaun Clouston. “They were ready to go. It wasn’t easy in the early going, but we found our legs as the game went on.”
Luke Zazula returned to the Blazers line up for the first time since opening night, while Ryley Appelt served the first of his three game suspension.
The Broncos haven’t won a game in Kamloops in almost 11 years – their last win was on December 13, 2008. Since then the Blazers have gone 4-0 in Kamloops.
Two more home games for the Blazers this week against divisional rivals as the Vancouver Giants come to town on Friday, followed by another meeting with Kelowna on Saturday. The Blazers currently lead the BC Division with 12 points in 10 games.
