Quick action from Kamloops Fire and Rescue this morning saved a downtown house from being destroyed.
The call came in at around 4:10 a.m., with reports of flames coming from the roof of a home on Columbia St. at Sixth Ave..
Platoon Captain Darryl Cooper says the house isn’t a write off.
“The guys got a good stop on it,” he told NL. “I see no damage to the inside of the dwelling. They’ll have to take a look at the attic space, but looks like its repairable. We pulled some ceiling and knocked it down. Quick knock down.”
The house was empty at the time, as it was recently sold. The new owners hadn’t moved in yet.
As of 7 a.m., Cooper told NL that crews are in the mop up phase, and that traffic is getting through on Columbia St.
