It’s Election Day across Canada, and the polls in B.C. will be open between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m., marking the end of 40 days of campaigning.
Running in the Kamloops-Thompson-Cariboo riding are the incumbent MP and Conservative candidate Cathy McLeod, Terry Lake with the Liberal Party, the Green Party’s Iain Currie, and Cynthia Egli with the NDP.
Also running is Ken Finlayson representing the People’s Party of Canada, Kira Cheesborough with the Animal Protection Party, and the Communist Party’s Peter Kerek.
Elections Canada says registered voters should have received a voter information card in the mail, with details on when and where you can vote. By law, all eligible voters must have at least three consecutive hours to cast their vote on election day. If you haven’t registered to vote, you can do so at your assigned polling station.
If you haven’t already voted in the advanced polls, you can do so today. People are asked to bring a piece of ID with them. BC Transit bus service is free today to help people get to their designated polling stations,
In the four Kamloops area ridings, Elections Canada reported a big spike in advance voter turnout, held over the Thanksgiving long weekend.
