Swedish environmental activist Greta Thunberg passed through Kamloops on Wednesday afternoon, as she headed down to Vancouver from Edmonton.
The 16-year-old was in the Alberta capital last week, where she held a climate rally at the Alberta Legislature on Friday, and also met with some First Nations near Fort McMurray.
Thunberg was heading to Vancouver for another rally set for this Friday, when she stopped in Kamloops at the Visitor Centre to charge up her Tesla.
“Best lunch break ever!” wrote Angie Halas, with Tourism Kamloops, who ran into Thunberg outside the visitor centre. “Whether you agree with her actions or not, Greta Thunberg’s rocking the boat and opening up the dialogue on climate change.”
Thunberg will be at the Vancouver Art Gallery on Friday for a rally at 11 a.m., followed a march downtown. BC Green Party Leader Andrew Weaver has also invited Thunberg to speak in the provincial legislature.
