They are the Queens of the Crown.
The Kamloops foursome of Corryn Brown, Erin Pincott, Dezaray Hawes, and Ashley Klymchuk captured the annual event hosted out of the Kamloops Curling Club. They blanked China’s Siyu Han 6-0 in the final.
It comes a year after being the runner-up to the Sarah Wark rink last year.
“We’ve grown up around the Crown, It’s always been a big event and it would be great if we could win it this year,” Brown told NL Sports on Friday before the event.
It’s the first time a local rink has won the Crown on the women’s side since Allison MacInnes won it in 2010.
In men’s action, former Kamloops resident Jim Cotter was eliminated Saturday night with a third loss.
Japan’s Yuta Matsumura defeated Surrey’s Tyler Tardi 7-5 in the championship game.
It’s the first time an international rink has won the Crown of Curling event.
