The community of Logan Lake is celebrating its 50th birthday next year and to help celebrate, it is hoping to be able to complete the Mimi Falls Legacy Trail.
The community was hoping for $100,000 from the rural dividend fund which was suspended by the province to help pay for the $69 million to aid forestry workers. As a result, Logan Lake is looking for alternative funding options. Mayor Robin Smith says it has an application going into the the community investment fund. “Hopefully some of those funds could go into that Mimi Trail project, as well the Community forest is a big contributor to a lot of the things that we do here in Logan Lake and we’re hoping some of the funds may come from the dividends from Community Forest as well…. We say ‘Discover Our Nature’ and we want to kind of make sure that we’re doing things along those lines that are low cost, but will be there far, far into the future. So, we were a little disappointed to hear about the rural dividend fund being, sort-of frozen.”
