Sun Peaks is hoping for a big chunk of change to do fire mitigation work around the community.
CAO Rob Bremner says the municipality has applied for $315,480 from the province to treat 50 hectares of land.
“It’s for the continuation of work around our forest fuel treatment, and some firesmarting of the community. We’re happy we can continue that work and we’ve been very successful in trying to protect the community from forest fires.”
The municipality has treated more than 200 hectares of land since 2012 including 18 hectares last month.
