Teck Resources says no current employees will be getting pink slips at Highland Valley Copper, amid news that the company will be shedding 500 jobs.
Spokesperson Jacqui Schneider says there will be some job cuts by the end of 2020, which Teck says is to do with global economic uncertainty.
“Any reductions will likely be achieved through a combination of retirements and attrition, the expiry of temporary positions, and deferring filling a number of job vacancies. We do not anticipate any layoffs at Highland Valley Copper at this time.”
Teck employs about 1,400 people at Highland Valley Copper near Logan Lake.
