Nov 14 Update: Fortis BC Crews are continuing to work on Valleyview Drive repairing a gas line that was struck late yesterday morning.
A company spokesperson says they hope to complete the repairs by 6:00 evening. He says repairs are taking some time because the damage was to a larger line. The street is now open to one lane.
Kamloops Fire crews responded to 1886 Valleyview Drive around 11:30 yesterday morning after a third party damaged the line. Several homes were evacuated for precautionary reasons, but residents were allowed to return home yesterday afternoon.

Fortis BC Spokesperson Jas Baweja says crews arrived on scene at around 11:20 this morning. “So our crews are on site assessing a damaged natural gas line caused by a third party.” Baweja couldn’t say when things will be resolved at this time.
Meanwhile, Kamloops Platoon Captain Mike Haines says it was caused by a 3rd party and believes it was caused by a piece of machinery. “Crews are still on scene at 1886 Valleyview Drive. Due to the nature of the incident we had to evacuate homes immediately adjacent to that address.”
Haines asks drivers to avoid the area as it is currently blocked off. Both Kamloops Fire and Fortis BC say this is a good reminder to always call before you dig.
