The Salvation Army’s Families Feeding Families goes this Saturday at Save On Foods stores across the Kamloops region and donations are needed this year more than ever.
Yesterday, a story broke about the demand at BC food banks being up and not surprisingly, people are reaching out to the Salvation Army more as well.
Captain Kelly Fifield was on the NL Morning News and explained how Families Feeding Families works. “When people walk into the store they can look for our store house of food bank bins and place items in the bin.”
“They are putting together bags that people can purchase at the tills or they can make donations at the tills, through the stores for us.”
Captain Fifield says it’s not just food donations they are looking for. “We can take things like toilet paper and paper towel and tissues, those those types of things that are not food. Outside of that we ask for non perishable items.”
“We do give out eggs and milk and butter but those are items that we do purchase with with donations just because of health standards.”
Volunteers from Stingray Radio will be at the Sahali and Valleyview Locations from 9-4 tomorrow but you can make donations at all five Kamloops area Save On Foods locations.
