Kamloops RCMP say a 54-year-old woman was pronounced dead after being hit by a truck at the intersection of McGill Road and University Drive.

Police responded to a collision between a vehicle and a pedestrian just before 5:30 p.m. on Friday evening. The driver of the truck remained on scene and was taken to the police station for further investigation.

Police say the intersection was closed for about six hours as a result.

It is the second fatal collision on Kamloops streets in less than two weeks.
