Kamloops RCMP have arrested a 30 year old man in connection to a alleged attack in the city’s downtown.
Just before 2:00 this morning, police received a report from a victim who claimed to have been attacked by a man with a large knife in the area of 1st Avenue and Columbia Street. The victim was able to escape without injury and promptly called police. Officers quickly began searching the area with the Police Dog Services. Within a matter of minutes, a man matching a description was located and arrested without incident.
Sergeant Brandon Buliziuk says “the suspect is well known to Police and remains in custody pending further investigation and assessment of applicable charges by the Prosecution Service of British Columbia.” Buliziuk says this is believed to be an isolated incident with no further safety risk to the general public.
