Kamloops is once again ‘Giving Cancer the Finger’ with their wrap up fundraiser set for this Thursday.
The charity is in their forth year of operation and while on the NL Morning News, Co-organizer Jenn Edgecomb told us what the charity is hoping to eventually do. “Our ultimate goal is to open a cancer supportive care centre here in Kamloops.”
“What we know is that our local cancer community, our hospital does a really, really great job at providing really top quality care but unfortunately not all the services that our cancer community requires are available here in Kamloops.”
Edgecomb described why such a centre is needed in Kamloops. “A majority of our cancer population, once they’re quote unquote cured from cancer, they have such an array of debilitating and life altering side effects that really never get dealt with because we don’t have the infrastructure locally to be able to support the demographic they way they need.”
The Shark Club is hosting the wrap up fundraiser Thursday.
Tickets are $25 and that includes a beer and a burger. There’s live entertainment, a 50/50 draw and it all gets going at 5:30.
