Update –
Kamloops firefighters have made short work of a fire at a motel in Valleyview.
The fire broke out at the Country View Motor Inn on Comazzetto Road around 1:15 p.m., with reports of smoke and flames from one of the rooms on the ground floor.
Kasha Bliss was in the room above when the fire broke out.
“I heard a big loud bang and figured there were just people fighting outside and then thanks to a neighbour, he ended up yelling ‘Fire’ so I ran outside and a bunch of smoke came up my face, so I grabbed the baby and ran out.,” she said.
There are no injuries as everyone was able to get out in time, but at this time it’s not clear how the fire started.
Assistant Fire Chief Robb Schoular says the blaze was contained to the single unit, and he estimates the damage at less than $10,000.
There’s also no word if any motel guests have been displaced, and if so, for how long they’ll be out.
