Kamloops RCMP have identified the victim of a suspicious death in the city as 66-year-old David Melvin Boltwood, of no fixed address.
Police say Boltwood was frequently seen at various locations on the North Shore. He was often in a wheelchair and he last made contact with the RCMP on Nov. 4.
Boltwood’s body was found wrapped in a rug behind a dumpster on Carson Crescent yesterday morning, Nov. 29. Police now say it was likely left there last Sunday, Nov. 24.
“Our investigation is advancing in that Mr. Boltwood has been identified however we still need the public’s assistance. We do not know where Mr. Boltwood has been staying and investigators are interested in confirming a time line of his whereabouts,” said Staff Sgt. Simon Pillay.
“If you know where David Boltwood was staying between November 4th and November 29th, please contact the RCMP.”
Police say they have already spoken to several witnesses since the discovery of Boltwood’s body yesterday. Family has been notified and his identity is being released to further the investigation, according to Pillay.
“It is too early to confirm if Mr. Boltwood died as a result of a criminal act,” Pillay added. “However, it is clearly a crime to dispose of human remains in this manner. To those involved in moving David Boltwood to this location, I urge you to come forward to investigators.”
If you know anything about the circumstances of this death or saw any suspicious activity in this area, you are asked to reach out to the Kamloops RCMP.
