A successful 27th annual Toys for Kids Breakfast in Kamloops as it made its return to the Delta Marriott Hotel downtown.
In all, $8,258.27 was raised for the Royal Inland Hospital Foundation.
Jenna Vanderburgh, the Foundation’s Director of Community Relations, says it will help them buy three patient care chairs for neonatal care unit at RIH.
“New parents coming into the neonatal intensive care unit get to spend that time with their new babies, and they’re able to nurse in them, they’re able to hold their babies and do a bit of skin-to-skin which is of course, really incredible, and just really care for their babies, and of course be comfortable while they are at it.”
As well, 1,100 toys were also donated towards Christmas Amalgamated this year as 637 people came through the doors at the hotel between 6 a.m. and 10 a.m.
“The support that we get throughout the community from clubs and organizations that come in, that make tremendous gifts, and then parents, friends, grandparents, just everyone who comes and shows up, and drops off toys, which is incredible as well for Christmas Amalgamated,” Vanderburgh added.
“We are so lucky.”
The event is in partnership with our sister station, K97-5.
