A man and a woman face charges of attempted murder after shots were fired towards police officers during an incident east of Kamloops yesterday.
Darwyn Allen Curtis Sellers and Jennifer Patricia Singleton have each been charged with three counts of attempted murder with a firearm and one count of flight from police. Sellers also faces a charge having a firearm despite a restriction not to.
The charges come after police were called to a suspicious vehicle in Falkland around 8 a.m. on Tuesday.
Const. Jocelyn Noseworthy with the Vernon-North Okanagan RCMP says police tried to stop the vehicle in a traffic stop, and says the driver then fled the scene and she said shots were allegedly fired at police.
The vehicle was later stopped with a spike belt on Highway 97 in Westwold, near Back Road, and two suspects were arrested in a field behind the St. Luke’s Church.
The highway was closed for several hours in Westwold while police canvassed the scene.
Details of why the vehicle was considered suspicious remain unclear.
NL news is waiting a call back from the Vernon-North Okanagan RCMP for more information.
