A Kamloops councillor who has advocated for accessibility projects is pleased with the details of the city’s new Recreation Master Plan.
The plan was adopted yesterday by council, and Sadie Hunter says the draft plan that council saw back in September didn’t clearly say how the city would improve accessibility.
“Staff took it away, and reviewed it with the public over the last couple of months. That’s become more front and centre, and it’s definitely now included throughout the rest of the plan. It’s now interwoven, which is exactly what I was hoping to see.”
Part of the master plan says seniors and people with disabilities need more supports to get to-and-from recreation facilities.
Specific projects to improve accessibility are expected to come forward during budget talks on supplemental items, after a motion from Hunter was passed by council in September.
