The Kamloops Thompson School District’s Director of Facilities says a new Parkcrest Elementary School would be up to $38 million dollars.
Art McDonald calls it a placeholder value for a magnitude of order. He says the school district is still incurring costs related to the loss of the school and that $38-million-dollar figure is a cost that it won’t exceed.
“It’s a number we’re using because we have to update our capital plan that we submit to the ministry and we’re still finalizing all the costs related to the loss of Parkcrest. We’ll be working on that with the ministry over the next month or two.”
McDonald says this number that is being reported to the Ministry of Education needs to include the new building as well as all other related costs like insurance fees.
