Kamloops firefighters say they responded to four significant crashes after a spell of heavy snow and low visibility this afternoon.
Platoon Captain Darryl Cooper says one person had to be extricated from a vehicle, adding the crashes were spread across the city.
“East Trans Canada Highway to Tranquille Road and Mission Flats Road,” he said. “The Mission Flats one was where a patient was trapped when the vehicle rolled over on its side. We broke out the rear window and got him out that way.”
While the snow has stopped, police and fire fighters say the roads in the city are still very slippery, and they’re asking drivers to take their time and be careful on the roads.
“As you are driving, conditions can change quite quickly from one section of road to the next,” Cooper added. “It can be a dry, bare section and then before you know it, you’re into a slippery section, so just be aware that that can happen at any time, and drive accordingly.”
