The Salvation Army’s Christmas Kettle Campaign is giving one last push to reach it’s goal and they can use a little help.
We’ve all seen the familiar kettles set up each year in various locations and as with most charities there is a bigger demand every year.
Salvation Army’s Captain Kelly Fifield was on the NL Morning News and said it takes a lot of people and planning to make the campaign happen. “We do set a goal for how many funds that we need to raise.”
“So this year, our goal is $350,000. So we set that goal and we know how many locations we have and we break that down to the hours that we’re allowed in the store and two hours for each shift and that’s how we figure our our schedule for volunteers.”
Fifield reminds us the the campaign doesn’t stop on December 25th.
“We want to encourage people to get out and to give and to supports us and help us reach our goal this year. Our campaign actually runs until the end of the month. People can donate up until the very last day in December.”
Captain Fifield added “As of Saturday, we’ve brought in $291,825”
