Kamloops city staff and Thompson Rivers University are continuing to review the best approach for putting a dome over Hillside Stadium.
Director of community services Byron McCorkell says the conversation right now is about engineering and if the project would be feasible.
“If we go forward with what we originally thought about in concept, it would be a very large dome, and we understand it would probably be the biggest one in western Canada. That said, there’s a lot of engineering conversations that need to be had to see if it’s even feasible,” McCorkell says.
“Those conversations are continuing, and we’re optimistic that something may be able to be done there. But it’s not, going forward, in the immediate conversations with council.”
A dome over the stadium would likely be worth upwards of $7 million.
