The City of Kamloops could be days away from setting a third straight record year for construction permit values.
Building and engineering development manager Jason Dixon says through the end of November, there were $272 million worth of permits issued, leaving the city $13 million away from matching the record construction value set in 2018.
“It continues to be busy. Applications have slowed down over the last month or so which is always normal this time of year. That backlog we had from that exceptionally busy late summer and early fall is there.”
Dixon says his office won’t be doing anything different to try and reach that record mark, but he notes there are 60 commercial and 70 residential permits still waiting to be approved.
