Expect congestion in the area.
Original – If you are planning to travel on the Coquihalla today, be aware that there will be avalanche control work between Hope and Merritt from 11:00 a.m until 3 p.m.
The road will be closed so you’ll either have to wait or use the Highway 1 through the Fraser Canyon to head to or from the Lower Mainland. There is no avalanche control work planned for the Merritt to Kamloops section just yet, however conditions could be slippery given the recent snowfall.
Heading east on Highway 1, there is a high avalanche hazard between Sicamous and Revelstoke, and so the road is closed, with traffic control crews in place.
Drive BC says Highway 1 is also closed from Golden to Revelstoke due to a high avalanche hazard, with avalanche control work also planned in that area.
There is still a snowfall warning on that highway from Eagle Pass to Rogers Pass. We are expecting an update on the status of Highway 1 around 9 a.m.
