Forecasters says cold weather about to move into Kamloops could stick around for a while.
Environment Canada meteorologist Bobby Sehkon says arctic air that will arrive on the weekend could last for about two weeks.
“It’s hard to say exactly when its going to end. There’s some uncertainty around that. However, it does look like for most of next week, we should see low temperatures down near minus-20 if not lower. It’s going to be cold and even daytime highs are going to struggle to break minus-10,” he says.
“Right now our mid-range models are predicting colder than normal temperatures for most of BC, kind of into the third week of January so this cold maybe sticking around for a while. There could be fluctuations here and there however it should be pretty cold right through almost the last week of January.”
Before that, Sekhon says a snow storm tomorrow will bring 5 centimetres of snow at the valley bottom in Kamloops, and up to 15 cm at higher elevations.
At time of posting, a snowfall warning is in effect for the North Thompson and the Shuswap with 10 cm of snow expected to fall tomorrow in those regions.
