The MLA for Kamloops – North Thompson has done a trip through the northern part of his constituency to take the pulse of what’s on people’s minds, and the common thread seems to be frustration.
Peter Milobar was on the NL Morning News and said money promised for relief to towns hit hard by the forestry crisis hasn’t been handed out.
He said people in towns like Clearwater and Vavenby would like some answers. “There are people that have never had to access a food bank before, very proud of the fact they’ve never had to access a food bank before that are needing to and they cannot get a proper response, I can’t get a proper response.”
“It’s time for the government to make it very clear, in a clear direction for these communities, how exactly this help is going to come.”
“Trying to get answers has been very tough. You know, everyone needs holidays but it seems like the parliamentary secretary and the minister have been on a very long holiday and no one seems to get any answers out of them.”
Milobar is placing the blame directly on John Horgan.
“The Premier doesn’t want to seem to want to talk or address in any meaningful way about this problem.”
“This is a Premier that during the election said that mill closures would not happen under his watch. Well, they have happened under his watch and people expect action, they expect a clear direction.”
“We can’t get an answer, the mayors can’t get an answer and I keep saying that on this show, it’s not just me saying this. This is coming directly from mayors in the area saying that they’re even getting very, very frustrated with how this process has dragged on.”
