
No suspensions for the Kamloops Blazers after a brawl during Saturday night’s game in Kelowna against the Rockets.
The WHL has fined both teams with the Rockets getting a total of $3,000 in fines, and the Blazers with $1,500 in fines.
The fines include $500 each for the goalie fight between Dylan Garand and Roman Basran, and $500 each for multiple fights between the two teams – there were 18 fighting majors handed out by the officials on the night, all in the last 4:42 of the third period.
In all, there were 234 penalty minutes assessed on the night – 107 to the Blazers and 127 to the Rockets.
Blazers coach Shaun Clouston was also fined $500 while Adam Foote was fined $1,500 for the multiple fight situation. The WHL’s standard coaches fine for a multiple fight situation is $500. The Rockets were also fined a further $500 for instigating.
In addition to the fines, Rockets defenceman Kaedan Korczak has been suspended for three games for returning to the ice after being sent off.
The two teams will next meet for a home-and-home on Mar. 13 in Kamloops and Mar. 14 in Kelowna. The Blazers have won seven of eight meetings this season.
