The Nicola-Similkameen School District will be doing a report this year on capital priorities.
The school district includes Merritt and Princeton, and Superintendent Steve McNiven says there is development taking place in Merritt and there are some aging schools.
“We’ve been really fortunate to have some surpluses in place, but we’ve been running some deficits for the last three years, on a yearly basis, to spend down those surpluses. So if we’re talking funding, we’re still in a healthy place.”
Unlike in Kamloops, McNiven says there are no capital needs that are immediately on the books in School District 58.
