The Chief Public Health Officer of Canada says three people have been tested for the coronavirus in this country.
But Dr. Theresa Tam says all the tests came back negative.
Officials couldn’t say where those people were tested, but Tam says the people tested had travelled in the past week from Wuhan, China – where the virus broke out.
“I think the recommendation is that we simply put in precautionary measures. I think it is important to take this seriously, and be vigilant, and be prepared. But I don’t think there’s any reason for us to panic or be overly concerned.”
The coronavirus has killed three people and made more than 200 people sick in at least four countries.
The World Health Organization will decide on Wednesday during an emergency committee meeting whether to declare a public health emergency of international concern.
