Sun Peaks Resort has set up a dedicated phone line so people at the resort can get updates about the wildfires Down Under.
It is Australia’s worst wildfire season in decades, and at least 28 people have died nationwide.
Chief Marketing Officer Aidan Kelly says a number of guests at the resort as well as staff are from Australia, and so they want to help out any way they can.
“If anyone needs to phone back home and get any updates and check in with family and friends or whatever other reason they have, we have that available as well,” he told NL News.
“When those kinds of situations are taking place and you are that far away from home, I think every little bit helps to sort of keep that connections going.”
Kelly also says proceeds from fundraisers at this weekend’s Australia Day celebrations at Sun Peaks Resort, will also go towards supporting wildfire relief efforts.
