There doesn’t appear to be any serious injuries after a three-car crash in downtown Kamloops this morning, which involved a BC Transit bus.
The crash happened at 6th Avenue and Seymour Street. A northbound black Chevy truck went through a red light on 6th and collided with an eastbound BC Transit bus travelling on Seymour.
Both vehicles then hit a silver Ford SUV that was parked and unoccupied, and witness Jacinta Colerangle was about 15 feet away from the crash when it happened.
“I could hear everything clearly, the crunch and bang of the bus hitting the truck,” Colerangle says.
“I thought the bus was going to slow down or stop since the truck wasn’t going very fast, but the bus just kept going. And I didn’t really see it, I couldn’t see if the bus slammed on the brakes but it kept going.”
The driver of the Chevy truck was treated at the scene but was seen walking around and talking with paramedics. RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Jodi Shelkie says both drivers were taken to Royal Inland Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
“No injuries from passengers on the bus were reported,” she said.
Traffic is moving through the intersection but as of 10 a.m., it is partially blocked with emergency crews at the scene.
Here’s a better angle. Unclear on injuries. The Ford Escape involved (behind the bus) was parked. A witness tells me the black Chevy truck pulled out from the 7-11 parking lot while bus was driving along Seymour. @RadioNLNews #Kamloops pic.twitter.com/pAxUsWV297

Correction. Multiple witnesses now say the truck ran a red light at 6th before the crash with the @BCTransit bus, which carried into a parked car. There doesn’t appear to be serious injuries. Truck driver is out of the vehicle walking around and has been talking to paramedics.
