The Trans-Canada Highway is going to be closed for the next three hours near Chase for avalanche control work, after a minor avalanche was reported yesterday.
AIM Roads, the highway maintenance contractor, says the closure is for a stretch of about one kilometre at the Chase Hill, from Shuswap Avenue to to Matteys Roads. It says the closure will last from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., to allow for “avalanche control and cleanup.”
The closure comes after that section of the highway had to be closed yesterday for more than an hour to clear debris off the road, which was reportedly from a minor avalanche that happened at about 3 p.m.
AIM Roads says drivers should use Highway 97 and Highway 97B as a detour.
