The Managing Director at Kamloops Airport says an increase in the number of Air Canada flights to Calgary is welcome news for travellers.
After cancelling the direct Toronto flight this summer, Ed Ratuski says Air Canada will instead offer three flights a day to Calgary in the summer, instead of the current two.
“It’s an excellent opportunity for travellers in the Kamloops area to connect to destinations in the mid-continent and further east for the Air Canada network,” he told NL News.
He says the additional flight was added as a result of added demand.
“That adds about another 150 seats a day into that market, which we’re really positive about,” added Ratuski. “So there will be ample opportunities for inbound and outbound, mostly leisure travellers during that summer period, which we want to take advantage of.”
He says these Air Canada Calgary flights are in addition to West Jet’s three daily flights from Kamloops to Calgary.
Currently, Air Canada has five daily flights to Vancouver, while Central Mountain Air has two daily flights – one to Vancouver and the other to Prince George.
Over the summer months, Air Canada will offer four daily flights to Vancouver, three to Calgary, West Jet will fly three times a day to Calgary, while Central Mountain Air will offer its two flights as usual. Swoop will also be offering a direct flight to Edmonton between two and four times a week.
